While 'Safe, Warm Lancashire Home' was recorded in late 1987 (alongside other songs that appeared on Morrissey’s debut studio album, Viva Hate), the song did not see the light of day for almost a quarter of a century until its emergence in April 2011 as the B-side to Morrissey's 41st single, 'Glamorous Glue' (with the latter having already been released nearly 19-years prior as the 2nd track on Morrissey’s Your Arsenal studio album).

The song only appeared on the 7-inch vinyl format of the UK and Europe release of the 'Glamorous Glue' single.

The single included a lurid flyer of a nude Morrissey lounging rakishly in a bathtub to promote his upcoming compilation album, Morrissey - Very Best Of (on which ‘Glamorous Glue was included). The compilation album was released in late April of 2011.
